Rice’s J-Integral
Need to find a parameter that characterizes fracture under elastic-plastic
and fully plastic conditions, similar to the K parameter in fully elastic
fracture.
- Development of the J-Integral
- developed in 1968 by J.R. Rice
- it is a path-independent integral which characterizes
fracture in non-linear elastic components.
- Non-linear elastic components behave plastically when they are loaded
in one direction only.
